M N D F L exists to enable humans to feel good.

And, well, it’s time to help more humans feel all that goodness. We know firsthand how meaningful, beneficial and life-changing meditation can be. We also know the value of highly qualified authentic teachers who have an ability to make the practice accessible and relatable.

In 2018, we want to do more than share meditation with you - we want to empower you to teach it.

5 months. 300 hours. REAL TRAINING.

Developed by M N D F L's Chief Spiritual Officer, Lodro Rinzler, we are offering a 5 month, 300 hour meditation teacher training program that will give you the necessary knowledge and experience to lead mindfulness and loving-kindness meditation.

The popular 5 month curriculum includes access to five weekend retreats, in-depth weekly workshops, monthly meetings with a mentor, and unlimited classes at M N D F L. Weekends and workshops include guided practice sessions with Lodro and other senior M N D F L teachers, an around-the-world tour of meditation in various traditions, and a teaching laboratory that enables you to gain the confidence you need to teach these valuable practices. 

The price: $3500 Early bird rate until June 15th   |   $3800 thereafter


CURRICULUM (YEP, 300 HOURS IN IV PARTS)

An introduction to different traditions of meditation presented by M N D F L faculty including:

    •    Intro to the Traditions of Meditation with Lodro Rinzler

   •    Theravadin Buddhism with Melissa McKay

    •    Zen Buddhism with Koshin Paley

    •    Tibetan Buddhism with Thupten Phuntsok

    •    Shambhala with David Perrin

    •    Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Ellie Cobb

    •    Vedic Meditation with Ellie Burrows

    •    Hindu Meditation with Pandit Dasa

    •    Kundalini with Aaron Teich

    •    Jewish Meditation with Yael Shy

    •    Christian Meditation with Meggan Watterson

II. A thorough exploration into Buddhist philosophy and its meditation techniques in particular, including its mindfulness and compassion practices, as taught directly by Lodro.

III. The ethics and conduct of serving as a meditation teacher, how to craft and deliver instruction, and details on posture, as taught by Lodro and special guests.

IV. Our version of a teaching lab: you give practice talks in a supportive community and receive feedback from peers and experienced teachers.

REQUIREMENTS (CHECK, CHECK, CHECK)

  • Completed Application by August 1st, 2018
  • 1 year or more of consistent meditation practice
  • 5 classes (or more) at M N D F L - yes we will check & no we won't review your application until this pre-req is met
  • Interview with Lodro Rinzler (don't worry, he doesn't bite)
  • Daily classes at M N D F L (preferred) or practice time at home
  • Full attendance in the program (have to miss something? we get it! everything will be recorded but there aren't make up classes with the teacher in-person and it's v. hard to do the program if you have to miss more than one weekend)
  • Completion of weekly readings and homework (one to two chapters per week)
  • Completion of one week retreat (in the tradition of your choice, not organized by M N D F L)

DATES (NO HOLIDAYS, WE SWEAR)

INTRO SESSION: Tuesday, September 4th 7:15-9:15 pm

Tuesday evening WORKSHOPS are 7:15-9:15pm and include:

  • Guided meditation
  • Talks by the teachers
  • Practice sessions by participants
  • Q&A

Content: The first 10 workshops revolve around the wide world of meditation (see list above), featuring M N D F L teachers speaking to their respective traditions. The second half of the weekly workshops are a deep dive into Buddhism in particular, practice talks, and how to ethically pursue a livelihood as a meditation teacher.

  •    September 11th, 18th (Yom Kippur, okay so one holiday) and 25th
  •    October 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th

  •    November 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th

  •     December 4th, 11th and 18th

  •     January 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th

WEEKEND RETREATS

    •    September 28th-30th: The Science of Mindfulness, Posture Clinic, and a Deep Dive into Shamatha (Peaceful Abiding) Meditation with Megan Mook and Lodro Rinzler

    •    October 19th-21st: History and Roots of Mindfulness, the 4 Noble Truths of Buddhism, the Eightfold Path, and the Four Foundations of Mindfulness with Melissa McKay and Thupten Phuntstok

    •    November 30th-December 2nd: The Lens of Teacher, Cultivating Questions, Working with Diverse Populations with Kate Johnson and Lodro Rinzler

    •    January 4th-6th: Contemplation Practices, Loving-Kindness Meditation, Walking Meditation, How to Teach M N D F L Heart, Sleep, Movement, Intention and Mantra with David Perrin and Lodro Rinzler

    •    February 1st-3rd: Buddhist Compassion Practices, Spiritual Attainment vs. Materialism, Authentic Networking and How to Pursue the Livelihood of a Meditation Teacher with Adreanna Limbach and Lodro Rinzler

Weekend Retreat Schedule

  • Friday 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
  • Saturday 10 am - 7 pm
  • Sunday 10 am - 3 pm

MENTOR MEETINGS: Once a month hour-long check-in, arranged based on your individual schedules (FYI, you get to choose your mentor)

WEEKLONG RETREAT: We have a list of recommended centers and retreats, don't worry

Application alone does not guarantee entry. Meeting all requirements + successful interview with M N D F L founders = invitation to participate. We are accepting no more than 24 applicants and doing so on a rolling basis.

Price: $3800 ($3500 early bird rate) includes all weekend retreats, workshops, five-month membership to MNDFL, and credential as MNDFL Meditation Instructor.

No refunds once the program has started (sorry). 

Graduating from the program does not guarantee employment at M N D F L or teaching in our corporate or school programs. It does mean we back that you're trained to teach and will also give you the business skills to begin doing that on your own.
